  2. Storyboard 1: Research Level 1 Assignment

Storyboard 1: Research Level 1 Assignment

Completion requirements
Opened: Friday, 1 January 2021, 12:00 AM
Due: Saturday, 8 June 2024, 12:00 AM

As well as the 3 units, design, fashion and sewing skills, this course has 4 units you can select only ONE from.

105: Make a shirt or top

106: Make an unlined skirt

107: Make a pair of unlined trousers

108: Make a costume from recycled materials

You should decide by the autumn half term which of these you would like to do and make a research storyboard for it. For the first five weeks of the course start collecting images and sketching ideas that you like (fabrics, fashion pics, trims,....) you can use blue tack to begin to arrange them.

A lovely range of storyboards can be found at https://www.pinterest.com/redressraleigh/fashion-storyboard-examples, use the link provided to find them. I don't expect anything as complex as these but they will give you some ideas.

Your storyboard should be ideas that influenced the choice of garment you will make and include:

  • Some pics of examples that you like, might copy
  • Fabrics including fibre content and care instructions you might use
  • Haberdashery you could use eg: threads (what sort), fastenings, binding, interfacing, elastic.......
  • Sketches, use the body templates in the links or trace from a magazine, greaseproof paper works
  • Annotate briefly to explain your choices wherever relevant

Stick to A4 for presentation but you may want to use more than 1 page.

I know you may not have everything to hand so just make a note about what you could have included. Dialogue boxes or speech bubbles look good, you can point them to the correct place.

Take a photo and email it to me for feedback before submitting in moodle.
