The next topic we will be looking at is how we read and understand a text.
Please read the two texts which both relate to Black History Month. Both texts are from the Guardian. They are both long and are likely to contain vocabulary you don't know. Please ensure you give yourself enough time to read them properly. We will use these as a basis for discussion in the next lesson.
As you read, please think about the different styles of the writing, what the purposes are and how the authors are communicating.

Today we are looking at the requirements for the Functional Skills exam. The handout outlining these is below.
